About the Author

Deshton Gordanvic

Australian Writer / Musician / Storyteller

Deshton Gordanvic's writing is rooted in Australian land, family history and lived experience. Growing up around a long-established family farm near Nambour, Queensland, he developed a connection to the landscape and to the generations that came before him — themes that run throughout A Painting for Goanna Land.

His life has taken him across Queensland and beyond, through travel, music, motorbikes and hands-on work. The manuscript reflects a restless creative path shaped by guitars and songwriting, Australian roads, practical craftsmanship, observation and the determination to make sense of a changing world through words.

Rather than presenting a conventional memoir, A Painting for Goanna Land brings those experiences together through personal recollection, diary, storytelling and reflection — always returning to questions of identity, independence, belonging and what it means to still call Australia home.
